Four facial spritzes to delight your skin

Updated: Jul 25

Dull skin is never a good look for us ladies. Facial toners support the skin’s natural processes of cleansing and renewal, minimising the appearance of pores, balancing moisture and oil content and leaving skin looking and feeling healthy, toned and radiant. A facial toner is the ideal daily care product for normal, dry and sensitive skin, as well as skin that is in need of regeneration. Thus these facial mists recipes will keep you looking cool and will give your skin the pick-me-up it needs while helping to restore moisture and tone brightening the skin.

By using just a few ingredients, you can give your skin an added health boost without spending a fortune. Here are some of my favourite recipes:

Orange Mist

  • 1/2 cup orange blossom water

  • 1 tbsp mint leaves

  • 2 tsp of fresh organic lemon zest

  • Distilled water

This aromatic water is both uplifting and rejuvenating. It also makes a perfect mist for oily or blemish-prone skin as it provides hydration while purifying the complexion. You need to infuse in boiled the peppermint leaves and lemon zest. Its astringent properties help to soothe redness and irritation while stimulating circulation. Add to the orange blossom water along with some drops of vodka to keep longer the toner; it should last for at least one week.

Rose Mist

  • Petals of 6 roses

  • 2 tbsp of witch hazel

  • 1 tsp lemon zest

  • Distilled water

Place fresh rose petals in a large pot and fill with just enough distilled water to cover the rose petals. Too much water will dilute the rose water. Place a heat safe bowl on top of the petals, and cover the pot with a lid. As the petals simmer, steam will be collected on the lid of the pot and drip in to the bowl, which will be the rose water. Let simmer until the petals lose their colour. Combine rosewater with an infusion of lemon zest with witch hazel leaves to make a mist that doesn't just smell good but makes you feel good, too. Rosewater's anti-inflammatory properties make it perfect for acne and redness. But that's not all — when combined with the witch hazel, rosewater acts as a great cleanser, removing oil and dirt accumulated in clogged pores and thus creating clear skin. Add some drops of vodka to keep longer the toner; it should last for at least one week.

Lavender Mist

  • 6 tbsp lavender buds

  • 6 tbsp of marigold petals

  • 6 tsp blue mallow

  • Distilled water

As per the rose water, place all the ingredients in a large pot and fill with just enough distilled water to cover the flowers. Place a heat safe bowl on top of the petals, and cover the pot with a lid. As the petals simmer, steam will be collected on the lid of the pot and drip in to the bowl, which will be your soothing toner. Let simmer until the petals lose their colour. Once you’ve collected the soothing water, drain the remaining infusion and damp a muslin cloth to apply it onto your face for a couple of minutes like a mask. Add some drops of vodka to keep longer the toner; it should last for at least one week.

Green Mist

  • 1 cucumber

  • 1 squeeze of lemon

  • 50 ml aloe vera juice

  • 50 ml rosewater

Good for both inside and out, this cucumber-and-green tea facial mist is loaded with powerful antioxidants that help at the cellular level. Peel your cucumber and cut it up into little pieces. Place the pieces in a blender and blend on high for about 1 minute. Cover a small bowl with a cheese cloth and strain the juice into the bowl. Add the rest of the ingredients into the bowl and mix. The cucumber, known for its cooling and hydrating properties, keeps skin soft. The mixture of cucumber and green tea helps rejuvenate skin cells and assists with the adverse effects of ultraviolet-radiation exposure. You can also add some drops of vitamin E to boost the formula effect. Add some drops of vodka to keep longer the toner; it should last for at least one week.

Et voila! Start spritszing !
